For Joe Kuzma From Clayton Benner:
I worked with Joe on
the White Alice System in Alaska back in the early 1960's. He was Managing
the Engineering and Modification section in the RCA-Anchorage Office. I
transferred from Operations into his section in 1963.
I remember well his
going-away party in Anchorage -- out toward the Airport in 1965 or 1966.
Joe and I met
up again in 1971 in Tehran where he was heading the Telephone Company of
Iran's INTS (long-lines) program management office (PMO); and I was Chief
Engineer-Page M&O for the maintenance of that system, both
initially living at the "old" Rudaki Hotel.
When I was married in
1972 in Tehran, Joe was one of the wedding and reception guests.
I saw him only once
or twice after the exodus of all the American Expatriates from Iran in
Feb-1979; shortly after the Shahs departure and the arrival of Khomeini.
We did keep in touch via Christmas Cards, and later, by occasional emails (I
wonder is he still had the all-white golf bag).
Please give Minako my
heart felt condolences. I loved the guy. I think the
feeling was mutual.
